Kerry Brader – Primary Head Teacher

The Malta Montessori School which was established in 2006 is owned and operated by Kerry Brader. Kerry received her AMS Montessori Early Childhood Certification in 2004 after completing her training at the Center for Montessori Education/ NY. Previous to that Kerry was a Middle School and High School Social Studies Teacher after receiving her Bachelor’s Degree in 1997 and Master’s Degree in 1998 from the State University at Albany.

Ramona Smeltzer – Lower Elementary Head Teacher

Ramona Smeltzer is the Lower Elementary Head teacher at Malta Montessori. Ramona graduated from Sage Graduate School with a Master’s Degree in Special Education and Literacy. She has her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. Currently she is working on her AMS certification through CMTE. She has worked for the North Colonie School District in a resource room and was an assistant in a Children’s House classroom at Malta Montessori for the 2008-2009 school-year. She is very excited to be the Head Lower Elementary teacher at Malta Montessori.

Delia Carroll – Primary Head Teacher

Delia Carroll is the Kindergarten teacher at Malta Montessori. Delia has been teaching for 18 years covering pre-school age and elementary. She is a certified AMS 3-6 teacher trained at CMTE. Delia has an undergraduate degree from SUNY Albany and did graduate work in Elementary Education at Russell Sage. She is very excited to be part of the Malta Montessori Community.

Jenna Herdrick – Primary Assistant Teacher

Jenna Herdrick joined our school in 2009 as an Assistant Teacher in our Children’s House. Jenna previously worked as a pre-school teacher for The Goddard School in Westchester, PA as well as Children’s World in Boulder, CO before relocating to the Saratoga area with her husband. She began her love and passion for working with children while attending Rosemont College, PA where she worked at the college daycare as part of the work study program and graduated with an undergraduate degree in English and a concentration in Sociology. Jenna loves working with children and watching them grow and learn; she is looking forward to earning a certificate as a Montessori Teacher in the near future.

Krista Chiovoloni – Intern Teacher

Krista Chiovoloni graduated Magna Cum Laude from Nazareth College with a degree in Psychology. She is currently training to be a Children’s House teacher at Northeast Montessori Institute and pursuing a Master’s Degree in Education at Endicott College. She is thrilled to be an intern at Malta Montessori and is looking forward to a great year.
